Life as a Seadog
Inspired by “Perhaps your life at sea”

There’s no discontent with surroundings
Emotions are dulled for relief
I vision no road
In truth I have showed
On this boat I do not stand a chief

I’m living each day like a seadog
Aware that each breath creates vex
I tear for your pain
Then weep now in vain
Afraid of what violence lies next

Gliding through much traveled waters
Not first, but wish I was last
Such guilt is unique
Cruel heart let me sleep
Lying cold, truth untold with my past

My craft’s upon waves of depression
Grey waters below wanted blue
Can’t see how to break
Have I made a mistake?
I whisper, “if only you knew”

Traveling on without Captain
A wheel without head at the stern
I must learn to lead
To cease needless bleed
For my mermaids up north I shall yearn.

So beware all other fool seadogs
Bright stars are for guide not romance
Help pilot my soul
Wind blow sails to goal
Oh seadogs don’t learn this foul dance.
