Freefalling Angel

There’s a surrealistic vibe to my abstract and that’s because at the time I wasn’t trying to copy a style. I was simply drawing what came out and frankly I was enjoying the freedom that the ‘abstract’ art was giving me. A surreal painting requires tracking down references and this was back in 1997 when you needed to study anatomy and poses from a book or from real life more than from the internet. Hard to believe that the internet was not a thing when it’s such an invaluable tool today.

 Addiction

Addiction is one of my most popular images I’ve done. I’ve seen people do their own renderings of it; attach poetry to it and have it as a tattoo. To many it appears like a positive image. Two people addictively into each other, but over the years I’ve realized there’s other ways of seeing it… after all… the title is “Addiction”… how healthy can that be? :) A little side note. This painting has been done in graphite, oils, watercolors, color pencil and digitally. This however is my favorite rendering.
